ABOUT US
OUR STORY
I grew up in Accra, Ghana, where my love for cooking was nurtured from a young age. I fondly remember learning traditional recipes from my mother and being responsible for preparing meals for my two younger siblings. Cooking was more than a necessity—it was a passion. My friends and I would play "kitchen" using tiny, makeshift utensils and leftover groceries, which we called nkuro. These small childhood moments ignited my deep love for food. I come from a family of great cooks, and growing up in Accra, Ghana, my sisters and I would compete for the title of the best cook. Those were fun moments we still look back on with fond memories. Cooking, for me, is more than just preparing a meal—it’s a process. From making a fire with charcoal and firesticks back home to carefully seasoning meat and fish, every step is an experience I cherish.
In high school, I pursued my passion further by specializing in Home Economics, a culinary-focused program designed to enhance cooking and home science skills. This led me to college, where I studied cooking and home management before migrating to the United States. While I explored different career paths and took time to build my family, my love for food never faded. My husband and I started a grocery store 14 years ago, and about five years ago, my passion for cooking led to the birth of Abi’s Kitchen.
At Abi’s Kitchen, we believe in cooking with love, tradition, and health in mind. We prepare every meal as if it were for our own family—bringing you authentic, nutritious African cuisine infused with essential healthy spices. Our goal is to give you a taste of home and nutritious quality food that brings joy to our customers no matter where you are, just as it brings joy to me.
